Frequently Asked Questions
Are you on any insurance panels?
I am not on any insurance panels at this time. I find that working with insurance can limit our flexibility with needing to meet criteria set by the insurance companies instead of my clients. However, I often work with Out-Of-Network benefits. If you have Out Of Network Benefits, I will help by walking you through the process of verifying and billing your insurance company. Specifically for clients who have NYSHIP, I do all the billing directly which saves you the hassle of having to submit after the fact. You may be responsible for any deductibles that need to be met before insurance will begin to pay for services. Please contact me to discuss this further.
What if I don’t want to use my insurance?
Often people make the decision even if they have insurance, to seek therapy without using these benefits. When insurance is involved, they require a diagnosis to be provided for billing purposes. Often people feel uncomfortable with labels and choose to pay ‘out of pocket’.
If you decide not to use your insurance or don’t have insurance, I believe in being up-front with the cost of therapy. My fee is $175 per session for individuals and $200 for couple and family sessions. If there are circumstances that make this unreasonable, please feel free to contact me to discuss.
Where is your office located?
My office is located inside the Garden City Community Church, located at 245 Stewart Avenue. Please note that I am NOT affiliated with the church in any way. I find this space is comfortable and feels much more like a living room than a medical office building. My clients always note how lovely and warm my office is, and I am sure you will feel the same. It is also within walking distance of the Nassau Boulevard LIRR station and nearby other landmarks such as Adelphi University.
How long is a session?
First appointments tend to run about 60 minutes. Ongoing appointments are 45 or 60 minutes. Family sessions can tend to run for 60 minutes as well.
Do you provide crisis appointments?
I do provide crisis appointments for current clients. If you are a new client and feel you are in a state of crisis, please contact 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. You can also contact the Long Island Crisis Center, a 24 hour hotline at (516) 826-0244. Please do NOT use the form inquiry on this website for any emergency situations.
Do you coordinate with other providers, agencies or individuals?
Your confidentiality is of upmost importance to me. In the case that we discuss and identify outside providers (previous therapist, school, family member, medical provider, etc) that we identify as being important in your theraputic journey, then we will discuss this and a consent will be reviewed and signed. You have the full authority to refuse any consents, however I may identify this as a block to your service. Often families request ongoing coordination with others, and I am very happy to provide this service to ensure you are receiving the best care. Either way, it will be a decison for you to make.
Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes! I offer a free 15 minute consultation so that you may see my office and meet me to discuss your goals. This is an opportunity to make sure we are a good ‘fit’. We will briefly discuss your reasons for looking for a therapist and my methods to ensure we will work well together. If after that 15 minute appointment you wish to move forward, my standard fees apply.
Ready to begin?
I look forward to speaking with you and finding out how I can help you meet your goals.
